Convicted killer becomes Quebec lawyer
2006-07-06 18:26:53
A Montreal-area murderer will be allowed to become a lawyer. Quebec's professional tribunal has decided that despite the fact Sebastien Brousseau stabbed his mother to death 40 times in her Repentigny home in 1990, he can join the legal profession.
Brousseau was sentenced to 4 years and 10 months in prison, but was released on parole two years after the crime. He then got his law degree from the University of Montreal.
Bar associations have been rejecting him as a candidate for 10 years now, and he'd lost in appeal each time, until now.
The bar association's professional tribunal has decided he has the law degree and the knowledge necessary to become a lawyer, and therefore can become one.
Thanks Doreen
